This receipt starts with a sample plumbing payment. The names are blank and the amounts are made up. Change them to the payment you received, or clear the sample and start blank.

Copies the customer, job, invoice number, total, and what's left to pay from the invoice maker in this browser.

Took a deposit? Fills in a deposit receipt from the estimate maker in this browser: the customer, job, estimate total, and deposit.

1. Your business

2. Who paid, and for what

3. The payment

This tool doesn't take payments or store card numbers. For a card payment, type only the last 4 digits.

4. Notes and signature

Example wording, not legal or tax advice. A receipt records a payment. It doesn't replace your contract or change your terms. Ask your accountant how to record deposits and partial payments and how long to keep copies.

5. Your receipt

Preview. This is what prints. Empty fields are left off.

6. Send it

Save the receipt as a PDF, then send it with one of these. The messages change with the payment type. Your customer's first name, the job, the amounts, your business, and your name are filled in from the receipt. Anything still in [brackets] is yours to finish.

Still waiting on the rest? The free payment reminder maker fills in friendly, firm, and final reminders for the balance. Paid in full? Ask for a review with the free review link and QR code generator. Need the invoice first? Use the free invoice maker. See all eight on the free tools page.

Plumbing receipt questions

What should a plumbing receipt include?

Your business name, phone, and license number if your state requires it, a receipt number, the date paid, the customer's name and the job address, the job and invoice number it pays, the amount, and how they paid (with the check number for a check). Mark it paid in full or show the balance remaining, add your warranty line, and sign it.

Do I need to give a receipt when a customer pays by check?

It's a good habit. The cleared check is the customer's record, but a receipt with the invoice number and check number ties the payment to the job, and it's the paper they'll look for if a question comes up later. Print it or text the PDF the same day.

Should a plumbing receipt list parts and labor again?

It doesn't have to. The invoice lists parts and labor; the receipt records the payment. Put the invoice number on the receipt so the two match. If the customer didn't get an invoice, use the Details box to say what the payment was for.

Can I make a receipt from the invoice I already made here?

Yes. If you made the invoice with the free invoice maker or the plumbing invoice template in this browser, click "Start from my last invoice." It copies the customer, job, invoice number, total, and what's left to pay, then you pick the payment method.
