Your business details are saved in this browser and shared with the estimate maker, so you only type them once. Made an estimate for this job already? Start from it and the customer, job, and line items come over.

Copies the customer, job, line items, discount, tax, and deposit from the estimate maker in this browser.

1. Your business

2. Customer and job

3. Invoice number and dates

4. Line items and totals

Leave Qty blank for a flat price line, like a trip charge. Units are up to you: ea, hr, sq ft, ln ft, visit, lot.

5. How the customer can pay

This tool doesn't take payments or store card numbers. It only prints what you type here, like who to make a check out to, your Zelle or Venmo, or a card payment link from the processor you already use.

6. Notes and terms

These lines are an example, not legal advice. Rules for invoices, late fees, and interest vary by state and city. If you charge a late fee, it generally needs to be in your written terms before the work starts, and many places limit how much it can be. Check your local rules and change the terms to fit your business.

7. Your invoice

Preview. This is what prints. Empty fields are left off.

8. Send it

Save the invoice as a PDF, then send it with one of these. Your customer's first name, the job, the balance due, your business, and your name are filled in from the invoice. Anything still in [brackets] is yours to finish.

Still unpaid after the friendly reminder? The payment reminders page has the firm and final versions. For the job-done summary and thank-you texts, see job wrap-up and invoice. After they pay, ask for a review with the free review link and QR code generator. See all five on the free tools page.

Invoice questions, answered plainly

What should go on a contractor invoice?

Your business name, phone, and email, plus your license number if your state or city requires it on paperwork. Then the customer's name, the job address, an invoice number, the invoice date, the date you did the work, and the due date. List what you did with quantities and prices, then show any discount, the tax, the total, any deposit already paid, and the balance due. Finish with the ways the customer can pay and who to call with questions.

What's the difference between an invoice and an estimate?

An estimate comes before the work and tells the customer what the job should cost. An invoice comes after the work (or at a milestone) and asks for payment of what's owed. If you made an estimate with the free estimate maker in this browser, the "Start from my last estimate" button copies the customer, job, and line items over, so you only change what's different.

What do payment terms like Net 30 mean?

"Net 30" means the full balance is due 30 days after the invoice date. Net 7 and Net 15 work the same way. "Due on receipt" means you'd like to be paid as soon as the customer gets the invoice, which is common for homeowner jobs. Pick the terms here and the due date is filled in for you. If you charge late fees, put them in your written terms before the work starts. The limits on late fees vary by state, so check your local rules.

How do I show a deposit the customer already paid?

Type it in "Deposit or payments already received." The invoice shows the total, subtracts what was paid, and shows the balance due in bold. When the customer pays the rest, tick "Mark as paid" to add a PAID stamp and print a copy for their records.

How do I save the invoice as a PDF?

Click Print / Save as PDF and pick "Save as PDF" as the printer. On an iPhone, tap Print, then pinch out on the preview and use the share button to save or send the PDF. On Android, pick "Save as PDF" from the printer list.

Is my information private?

Yes. Everything you type, including your logo, stays in this browser on this device. Nothing is uploaded or sent anywhere, and this tool doesn't take payments or store card numbers. Clearing your browser data clears your saved invoice too.
