Type over anything, add your business details once (they're saved in this browser and shared with the invoice maker), and print it. Jump to what a handyman receipt should include or the sample receipt. Need to bill the job first? Use the handyman invoice template.

This receipt starts with a sample handyman payment. The names are blank and the amounts are made up. Change them to the payment you received, or clear the sample and start blank.

Copies the customer, job, invoice number, total, and what's left to pay from the invoice maker in this browser.

Took a deposit? Fills in a deposit receipt from the estimate maker in this browser: the customer, job, estimate total, and deposit.

1. Your business

2. Who paid, and for what

3. The payment

This tool doesn't take payments or store card numbers. For a card payment, type only the last 4 digits.

4. Notes and signature

Example wording, not legal or tax advice. A receipt records a payment. It doesn't replace your contract or change your terms. Ask your accountant how to record deposits and partial payments and how long to keep copies.

5. Your receipt

Preview. This is what prints. Empty fields are left off.

6. Send it

Save the receipt as a PDF, then send it with one of these. The messages change with the payment type. Your customer's first name, the job, the amounts, your business, and your name are filled in from the receipt. Anything still in [brackets] is yours to finish.

Still waiting on the rest? The free payment reminder maker fills in friendly, firm, and final reminders for the balance. Paid in full? Ask for a review with the free review link and QR code generator. Need the invoice first? Use the free invoice maker. See all eight on the free tools page.

Handyman receipt questions

What should a handyman receipt include?

Your business name and phone, any license or registration number, a receipt number, the date paid, the customer's name and address, what the payment was for (the invoice number or the repair list), the amount, how they paid, paid in full or the balance left, and your signature.

How do I write a receipt for a cash payment?

Pick Cash, enter the amount, and leave the signature line on. Print two copies or save the PDF, sign both, and give one to the customer. Cash leaves no bank record, so the receipt is the only paper trail for both of you.

Do I need a receipt book, or is a PDF enough?

A PDF works. Save it as a PDF and text or email it, and keep your copy in a folder by month. If you like paper, print a few blank receipts from here with your business details filled in and write the rest by hand.

Should I record cash payments for taxes?

Yes, keep a record of every payment, including cash. A copy of each receipt makes that easy. How to report it depends on your situation, so ask your accountant or tax preparer. General information, not tax or legal advice.
