What a pressure washing estimate should include
Every estimate needs your business details, the customer, an estimate number, the date, the line items, the total, and how long the price holds. The estimate maker above handles those. These are the lines that matter most for pressure washing work:
- Each surface on its own line, with square feet. House wash, driveway, walkway, and deck as separate lines with their size, so the customer can drop one or add one and see the new total.
- Your method for each surface. Soft wash for siding and roofs, a surface cleaner for flat concrete, low pressure for wood. Customers worry about damage, and naming the method answers that early.
- Condition extras. Heavy algae, mold, or oil stains take more chemical and more time. Put the extra on its own line, like the 15% algae line in the sample, so the customer sees why the price went up.
- Add-ons by the unit. Gutter brightening by the linear foot, oil spots by the spot, windows by the window. Small add-ons are where many jobs make their margin.
- What the customer needs to do. Windows closed, cars moved, furniture off the deck, and an outside water spigot that works. It saves a wasted trip.
- What you can't promise. Old oil, rust, and some stains may only lighten. Saying so on the estimate keeps the walk-through friendly.
- Deposit, payment, and how long the price holds. A small deposit to hold the date, when the balance is due, and a valid-until date.
How to figure square feet for a pressure washing estimate
House wash: add up the length of each wall and multiply by the wall height. The sample house is 40 × 35 ft, so the walls run 150 ft around. At about 16 ft high for two stories, that's 150 × 16 = 2,400 sq ft. Add the gable ends if you wash them, and you can leave the windows in.
Flat surfaces: length times width. The driveway is 30 × 30 = 900 sq ft, the walkway and steps come to about 150 sq ft, and the deck is 16 × 20 = 320 sq ft. Measure the deck floor, then add the rails and stairs if you price them separately.
Gutters: measure along the eaves in linear feet. The sample house has about 140 ft of gutter.
Condition: look for algae, mold, and oil before you price. The sample adds 15% to the house wash for heavy algae: $480 × 15% = $72. The free pressure washing price calculator does these sums for you, with your own rates.

Pressure washing estimate questions
What should a pressure washing estimate include?
Your business name and phone, the customer and property address, an estimate number, the date, and how long the price holds. Then each surface on its own line with its square footage and method (soft wash for siding, a surface cleaner for concrete, low pressure for wood), any condition extras like heavy algae or oil stains, add-ons like gutter brightening, the total, the deposit, and what the customer needs to do before you arrive.
How do I price pressure washing by the square foot?
Measure each surface, multiply by your rate for that surface, and add a percentage for heavy algae, mold, or oil. The sample uses $0.20 per sq ft for the house wash, $0.18 for the driveway, and $0.45 for the deck, which are the starting rates in the free pressure washing price calculator. Rates vary a lot by region, so use your own, and keep a minimum charge for small jobs.
Should I take a deposit for pressure washing?
Many pressure washing businesses don't take one on small jobs and ask for payment when the work is done. On bigger jobs, a small flat deposit, like the $100 in the sample, holds the date and cuts down on no-shows. Put the amount and when the balance is due on the estimate, so the invoice matches.
What if the customer adds something on the day of the job?
Price it before you do it, and get a yes in writing, even a text. Then put it on the invoice as its own line. In the sample, the customer adds trash bin cleaning on site, so the pressure washing invoice template shows the 7 estimate lines plus 2 bins at $15.
