What a electrical estimate should include
Every estimate needs your business details, the customer, an estimate number, the date, the line items, the total, and how long the price holds. The estimate maker above handles those. These are the lines that matter most for electrical work:
- License number. Most states license electricians, and many want the number on estimates and contracts. Type it in the License # box.
- Panel and breakers by size and type. Amps, spaces, and which breakers are AFCI or GFCI. It shows the work meets current code.
- Service parts and grounding. Meter base, service entrance cable, ground rods, and bonding, if the job includes them.
- Labor and crew size. Hours and your rate, or a flat price, and how many electricians, so the hours make sense.
- Permit, inspection, and utility coordination. The permit fee at cost, who schedules the inspection, and who calls the utility for the disconnect.
- Power-off time. Tell the customer how long the power will be off so they can plan around it.
- What could change the price. Old wiring or code problems you can't see until the panel is open.

Electrical estimate questions
What should an electrical estimate include?
Your business name, phone, and electrical license number, the customer and job address, an estimate number, the date, and how long the price holds. Then each material with its size or rating, labor with the crew size, the permit and inspection, any utility coordination, how long the power will be off, what could change the price, the total, the deposit, and your warranty.
How do electricians price a panel upgrade estimate?
Most list the panel, breakers, service parts, and grounding as materials, add labor by the hour or as a flat price, and put the permit and any utility work on their own lines. Prices vary a lot by area and by whether the meter base and service cable are replaced too, so use your own numbers in place of the sample's.
Do I need to put my license number on an electrical estimate?
In many states, yes. Licensed trades often have to show the license number on estimates, contracts, and ads. Check with your state's licensing board, then type it in the License # box so it prints under your business name.
Can I turn this electrical estimate into an invoice?
Yes. Edit this estimate, then open the electrical invoice template or the invoice maker and click "Start from my last estimate." The customer, job, and line items come over, and the deposit shows as already paid.
