Below is a working estimate with a sample house cleaning job filled in. Type over anything, add your business details once (they're saved in this browser and shared with the invoice maker), and print it. Jump to what a house cleaning estimate should include or the sample text to send with it. For the texts before and during the job, see the cleaning business text templates.

This estimate starts with a sample house cleaning job. The names are blank and the prices are made up. Change every number to yours, or clear the sample and start blank.

1. Your business

2. Customer and job

3. Estimate number and dates

4. Line items and totals

Leave Qty blank for a flat price line, like a trip charge. Units are up to you: ea, hr, sq ft, ln ft, visit, lot.

5. Notes and terms

These lines are an example, not legal advice. Rules for estimates, deposits, and home improvement contracts vary by state and city. Some places require certain wording, your license number, or a cancellation notice on the paperwork. Check your local rules and change the terms to fit your business.

6. Your estimate

Preview. This is what prints. Empty fields are left off.

7. Send it

Save the estimate as a PDF, then send it with one of these. Your customer's name, the job, the total, and the valid-until date are filled in from the estimate. Anything still in [brackets] is yours to finish.

Heard nothing back? Use the three-text quote follow-up plan. Not sure your price is right? Check it with the free pricing calculator before you send. For reminders, invoices, and review requests with your details filled in, use the free text generator.

House cleaning estimate questions

What should a house cleaning estimate include?

Your business name and phone, the client and home address, an estimate number, the date, and how long the price holds. Then the type of clean and home size, what the base price covers, each add-on on its own line, the crew size and time, supplies, your redo policy, the total, and how payment works.

How do cleaners price a move-out or deep clean?

Many price by home size (bedrooms, bathrooms, and square feet) and condition, then add a set price for each add-on. Some price by the hour per cleaner. A deep or move-out clean usually costs more than a standard clean because it covers more and takes longer. Use your own prices in place of the sample's.

Should I give a recurring cleaning client an estimate?

Yes. Make one for the first deep clean and one for the regular visit price, so the client sees why the first visit costs more. For monthly billing, the house cleaning invoice template lists each visit by date.

Do I charge sales tax on cleaning?

It depends on your state. A few states tax cleaning services and many don't. Check with your state's tax agency or your accountant, then enter the rate in the tax box if you need to.
